The British artist has been commissioned by NPR to help put light on the interconnected rise of hip-hop and mass incarceration.
Dale Edwin Murray is a British designer notorious for his minimalist hip-hop-inspired prints.
Recently, NPR commissioned Murray for a series of illustrations on the theme of their new podcast called Louder than a Riot, which focuses on analyzing the link between hip-hop and mass incarceration in the United States.
Each portrait refers to an episode where a hip-hop artist is portrayed to help understand the inequalities of the justice system, often at the expense of black populations.
Characters drawn include Nipsey Hussle, Isis tha Saviour, Bobby Shmurda, or Mac Phipps.
